Hypnotherapy for Children and Young People
When a child or young person is struggling, it can be worrying and sometimes difficult to know what will help. Often, children are unable to explain clearly what they’re feeling, or their distress shows itself through behaviour, anxiety, withdrawal, or changes in confidence.
I have many years of experience working with children and young people of different ages and my approach is always careful, respectful and adapted to the individual. The aim is to help young people feel safer, calmer and more able to manage what they are experiencing, without pressure or force.
I offer hypnotherapy support to children and young people from Dartington, Newton Abbot and the surrounding areas of Devon, working carefully with their families to create safe, supportive change and positive, lasting outcomes.
A calm and age-appropriate approach
Work with children and teenagers is very different from work with adults. Sessions are adapted carefully to the child’s age, developmental stage and way of communicating. Some young people like to talk, others respond better to more indirect or creative ways of working.
At all times, the emphasis is on helping the young person feel at ease and understood. Nothing is rushed and nothing is done without their cooperation.
Common reasons parents make contact
Parents and carers often get in touch because a child or teenager is experiencing difficulties such as:
Anxiety or worry
Low confidence or self esteem
Emotional overwhelm or distress
School-related difficulties, including exam anxiety
Sleep related problems
Changes in behaviour or mood
These are examples rather than fixed categories, and suitability is always discussed carefully.
