I’m Neville Mundy.
I practise as NCM Hypnotherapy and bring over 30 years of clinical experience, working in NHS settings and private practice with adults, children and young people.
I work with clients seeking hypnotherapy in Dartington and Newton Abbot, supporting adults, children and young people from Torquay, Paignton, Dartmouth, Totnes and across South Devon. Sessions are available in person and online where appropriate.
My hypnotherapy training took place within the NHS at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where hypnotherapy was used in a clinical context alongside conventional medical care. That early grounding continues to shape the calm, careful and realistic way I work with people today.
Alongside clinical practice, I was a member of the committee and steering group responsible for developing the original National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in hypnotherapy in the late 1990s. These qualifications later informed the National Occupational Standards introduced in 2002, which continue to underpin much hypnotherapy training in the UK.
Being involved in this work reinforced the importance of professional standards, clear boundaries and competence-based practice; principles that remain central to the way I work.
Over the years, my approach has evolved through experience rather than adherence to a single method or fixed model. Sessions are shaped around the individual, paced carefully and conducted in a way that feels safe and manageable.
I work on a session-by-session basis, rather than encouraging open-ended courses of therapy. Across my practice, the average number of sessions attended is around three, although this naturally varies depending on the individual and the nature of the difficulty. Progress is reviewed together as we go, and people are supported in attending only for as long as feels helpful.
I have extensive experience working with children and teenagers. I am also neurodiversity-aware and work regularly with autistic adults and young people. The emphasis is always on providing a calm and respectful environment in which people feel understood and able to move forward at their own pace.
